Thin Film Coating Laboratory

Ridge Optics uses a variety of coating chambers from 18” to 32”. Our
coatings are applied by using Electron Beam, Ion Assisted, Ion Beam
Sputter, Thermal Resistance Deposition, and Plasma Assist. All of our chambers are
equipped with state of the art instruments to provide the best laser
coatings for our customers. They are all stationed in a controlled clean
room environment.
QA Department & Precision Clean Rooms
Blue Ridge Optics thoroughly inspects and tests every optical component
to ensure compliance with the most demanding quality requirements. Every
substrate is washed and inspected , an integral part of our cleaning
processes, prior to coating. Pre-coating inspection is performed under
high intensity light allowing inspectors to efficiently evaluate surface
defects and cleanliness. Every coating is tested to spec using military
specifications for abrasion, temperature, humidity, scratch-dig, etc.
All materials are packaged and stored in Class 1000 Clean Room areas to
ensure that environmental factors do not jeopardize the quality of the
end product.
Metrology
We measure the quality of every substrate
received and coated optical component shipped to our customers.
Utilizing Perking Elmer metrology equipment, Blue Ridge measures the
transmittance and reflection from the UV to IR (Lambda 19 UV/VIS/NIR and
Lambda 983 IR). Perking Elmer Spectrophotometers are the leading brand
for performing spectral measurements in the optical industry. Every
optical component at Blue Ridge is
measured to ensure the accuracy of every coating we apply.
Polishing and Fabrication
Blue Ridge
Optics offers a wide array of Optics, Laser Rods, Crystals, and custom
fabricated materials. Blue Ridge supplied optical components are of the highest
quality in the industry. Each component is tested and certified to
ensure compliance with the the most demanding quality requirements.
